We Believe Every Pet Owner Deserves Transparent Pricing
No upsells. No affiliate kickbacks. Just the cost data you need to make informed decisions for your pet.
Vet pricing in America is almost completely opaque. Unlike human healthcare, animal hospitals are not required to post prices. This opacity costs pet owners an estimated $2.3 billion in unnecessary charges every year.
The Problem with Pet Care Pricing
You're standing in an emergency animal hospital at 2am. Your dog is in pain. The vet quotes you $1,800 for surgery. You have no idea if that's fair. You have no time to research. You say yes.
That's the situation millions of American pet owners face every year - forced to make major financial decisions while panicked, with no reference point for what's reasonable.
We built PetCareShield to change that. When you know what emergency vet care costs in your city before you need it, you can advocate for fair pricing even in a crisis.
Our Approach
We collect pricing data from veterinary clinics, insurance claims, and pet owner reports across 500+ US cities. We normalize this data by city, breed size, and service type to give you the most accurate cost picture available.
What We Don't Do
- We don't accept payments from vet clinics to be featured or recommended.
- We don't have affiliate deals with pet insurance companies (we just analyze them objectively).
- We don't sell your email to anyone. Ever.
- We don't recommend specific vets - we provide data so you can choose.
Our Data Sources
Our pricing data comes from several sources:
- Anonymized veterinary invoices submitted by pet owners
- Pet insurance claim databases (aggregate, anonymized)
- Direct clinic surveys
- State veterinary association publications
All data is updated monthly. City-specific cost indices are based on USDA economic data and Bureau of Labor Statistics cost-of-living metrics.
